Samsung has quietly launched its Internet web browser for Windows computers, making it available on the Microsoft Store. The browser, already popular on Samsung’s Galaxy Android phones, is based on the familiar Chromium platform used by browsers like Google Chrome.
However, users might notice a few bumps in the road. The Microsoft Store description is short, with a screenshot of Google Chrome instead of Samsung’s browser. Some parts of the browser interface haven’t been translated into English yet.
To log in with your Samsung account, you’ll need to download another app called Samsung Account from the Microsoft Store, which might not be very smooth for users. Despite these hiccups, as a Chromium-based browser, Samsung Internet aims to offer a familiar experience to users.
The browser brings some handy features to the table. It includes a built-in ad blocker with customizable settings, although it’s turned off by default. There’s also a neat option in the settings that allows users to turn on Dark Mode for websites that don’t have this feature.
Samsung, a big player in smartphones, is gradually stepping into the PC market. Alongside Samsung Internet, the company has brought several of its mobile apps to Windows. However, a few, like Samsung Notes, are currently exclusive to Samsung’s Galaxy Book PCs.
While the Windows version of Samsung Internet may have a few initial quirks, it will be interesting to see how Samsung addresses these issues in future updates and how users respond to this expansion into the world of Windows computers.
